this field and had a game plan that worked all day. They
took top spot on the podium, putting them in 3rd place
so far. Cartel Reapers held onto 1st place with a 2nd place
finish. Warzone Exiles 2 kept their 3rd place spot.
With the NG Knight promoted at round 1 and the Mad
Sqad jumping into D5, this left 2 places to be filled within
the break in division. Ultraviolet 2 who was relegated from
breakout took up one place. Would this all female team
show their true potential within this division?
The second spot was taken up by the Roughnecks, a bunch
of scenario woodsballers that were making their tournament
paintball debut. Chatting to the lads, I spoke with Gary
Cowan and Ben Chewie Philburn. I asked them why they
decided to move to tournament paintball. They informed
me that they have been thinking of going to tournament
paintball for some time and that it was just recently they
decided to enter the CPPS for round 2 after coming along
to round 1 and overseeing the whole days play. Gary said
“paintball is paintball no matter if its 5 v 5 or 100 v 100, we
still shoot paint, the big difference is the size of the field
and that there are no trees or buildings to hide in. With
tournament paintball you have to play your bunkers tight, if
one laps in concentration you’re shot out.”
The Roughnecks showed that no matter what sort of paintball
you play you could make the change from woodsball to
a tournament field. I asked Ben Chewie Philburn what his
thoughts were on the well-earned 2nd place finish. He
informed me that the first tournament and the first time
playing sup air. “The team is over the moon with a second
place finish in the break in division, considering we just
went to see what all the fuss is about. All us Roughnecks are
beaming. Special thanks to our extended family, onslaught,
for playing and helping in pits. WE WON SECOND PLACE!”

Team Squach took top spot with a great performance that
capitalized on their 5th place at round 1. Ultraviolet played
well all day and finished the day off in 5th place, which leaves
them in 11th after 2 events. The break in division will be a
closely fought division this year, as one mistake will drop
you out of the top 3 places. After 2 rounds we only see SAD
Academy stay within the top 3 places.
D5 had a new look this round with Mad Sqad Rebels moving
up from the Breakin Division to see if they could hold their
own playing 2 divisions higher. The team also had a new
look to the team with Jono Wright moving on to play for
the Mad Sqad Rebels 1st team in D3, this left a space on the
team. Could Less Davis fit into a team that relies on pace as
well as aggressive play?
Needless to say the team from Rebellion Paintball found
the going tough. For the first couple of games they seemed
to be playing a defensive game. This did not suit their
style one bit. Brian Laird got ahold of the team at the
half waypoint and read the riot act. This seemed to have
spurred the team on; Less Davis was a powerhouse in the
back center. The points started to come in. Mad Squad
Rebels 2 finished a respectable 10th. Who knows what they
might have done if they just played the aggressive paintball
from the start.
Nottingham Hotshots finished the day off with a 1st place
podium finish. They played well all day only losing 17
eliminated losses, compared to the 21 eliminated losses at
round 1 you could see that the team from Nottingham had
worked hard on their survivability.
After 2 round Warzone Exiles are in 1st place followed by
Thunderducks and Nottingham Hotshots. It is still all to play
with 3 rounds still to play. Team FE 2 could not capitalize
on a podium finish after finishing round one in 1st place they
dropped to 3rd with a disappointing 10-place finish
Marvel played solid all day winning point after point and
finished the day with a well-deserved 1st place, which left
them in 6th after 2 events. Chameleonz played well on
Saturday pushing Marvel all the way, but just could not get
the final points to take them to 1st place. They finished in
2nd but after 2 events were lying 1st within D4, after being
constant in both rounds. Due to Edinburgh, Exodus was
not able to field a team for round 2. Their place was taken
over by the Sandbaggers Green. They took to the field in
