TOP 5 TIPS FOR A WINNING HAIRSTYLE
It is no secret that the beauty industry has taken off over the years , due to the high demand for new and fresh products to duplicate the look of naturallooking flawless skin for women and men .
• Choose a style that is flattering to your facial shape . If your face is round , don ’ t choose a style that will add width to your face . Work with your hairstylist to determine what type of hair style will compliment your facial features . Don ’ t make the mistake of thinking what a former title holder did with their hairstyle will work for you . Everyone ’ s facial features are different , pick something that makes you stand out - in a good way .
• Hair Color . If you color your hair , make sure its a natural hair color , nothing too outrageous or clearly doesn ’ t match your skin tone . Even for a glitz pageant you don ’ t want to be too far out for your hair color unless they are specifically asking for an out of the ordinary style or look .
• Don ’ t do anything drastic . I recently judged a pageant that had a contestant that had shaved her head . It wasn ’ t something that was tied into her platform or charity cause or any other personal reason , except she liked it . Which is fine , but for this pageant it just didn ’ t fit with the theme . You don ’ t want your personal expression to take away from the competition , if it doesn ’ t enhance it , don ’ t do it .
• Keep your overall look in mind . Keep in mind all the looks and different components of your pageant system . Make sure what you do to your hair can transgress through the different parts of competition . If you choose a style that is an upsweep , and want to wear your hair down for talent , make sure its easy and quick for you to do backstage .
If you plan far enough in advance for changes it will alleviate a lot of stress the day of your pageant . Have a hair run through weeks before the pageant to work out any issues and last minute details . Its better to make a change or adjustment early on rather than the day of the pageant .
