ALL TRIBES CHARTER SCHOOL – CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION( CTE) SHOP BUILDINGS

Valley Center, CA

The All Tribes Charter School in San Diego County embarked on a shops project of four new education shop buildings totaling approximately 14,000 square feet. Designed to expand the school’ s technical and vocational learning environments, the project includes dedicated spaces for an animal barn, culinary classroom, shop classroom, and auto shop. These buildings are aimed at providing students with hands-on, career-ready training in a variety of trades while supporting the school’ s culturally rooted educational mission.
The project was designed in collaboration with Sillman Wright Architects and follows established tribal standards. The project was delivered using Revit-based BIM workflows and includes coordination with external specialists and third-party reviewers to ensure technical alignment and code compliance.
P2S provided full MEPT and Fire Alarm engineering services and the scope included new system designs tailored to four distinct educational shop buildings. Mechanical systems varied by building function, from LP gas-fired unit heaters in the Animal Barn to heat pump HVAC with dust collection and welding exhaust in the Shop spaces. Plumbing systems supported classroom and shop uses with domestic water, sanitary, storm drainage, LP gas, compressed air, and an oil interceptor. Electrical design included load calculations, lighting controls, power distribution, and emergency safety interlocks for welding equipment.
Technology services consisted of signal drawings for AV, IT, security, and access control systems, coordinated with the Owner. P2S also designed an addressable voice evacuation fire alarm system with integrated detection and alert devices. We coordinated extensively with architectural and structural teams, utility providers, and specialty consultants throughout the design and construction phases. Using BIM in Revit, P2S delivered models at LOD 300 for construction documents, participated in third-party review processes, and supported bidding and construction with site observations and submittal reviews.
