Log Cabin Residence, Lighting Design | Idaho
Nestled among towering pines in the heart of Idaho’ s wilderness, this new log cabin draws inspiration from its natural surroundings. Designed to blend seamlessly with the landscape, it offers all the comforts of modern living while maintaining a strong connection to the outdoors At the entrance, a sculptural piece nestled in a masonry wall niche is highlighted, drawing attention to the craftsmanship of the space. The stone wall itself is subtly grazed with light, creating a sense of depth and texture. Inside, elegant chandeliers in the living and dining room cast a soft amber glow, gently illuminating the wooden surfaces. The cove light along the ceiling highlights the cabin’ s volume, flowing uninterrupted to the balcony and creating a seamless connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces. Large windows invite natural light to flood the interior.
Light sources were carefully concealed, using discreet fixtures to provide illumination without drawing attention. The design incorporates multiple layers of light, offering flexibility to adapt to various activities and daily needs. Each layer is independently controlled, allowing the cabin to transition effortlessly from soft, ambient lighting for relaxation to brighter, task-oriented light when needed.
As daylight fades, the cabin’ s electric lighting ensures that the warmth and character of the wood are preserved, creating a seamless transition from day to night. Soft, layered lighting mirrors the changing tones of the landscape, enhancing the cabin’ s connection to its natural surroundings.
