Meanwhile, back in the ship, it was time for the auto-pilot it disengage its control over the ship and its navigation. It was also time for the crew members to awake from their long slumber. The first to rise was Emily, who after a few minutes of stretching and yawning, checked on her crew members. The monitors on both Henry and John’s pods showed that they were fine, and would be waking up soon. Like Emily’s prediction, the two did awake within the hour and joined her on the deck. “Well,” Henry declared, “It looks like we’ll be there within the next two days, and there should be more than enough provisions to keep us alive on the way.” “Yeah,” Emily replied, “But we still shouldn’t take more than we need, just in case.” So they donned their suits and prepared to go out and capture samples of Subject-0634a. 0634a was a strange creature. It resembled a primitive version of the cuddlefish, and was a nonviolent species, so the only difficulty was catching them, as their travel was a lot more swift and graceful than a clunky space-suit.

It took what seemed like hours, but Henry and John caught about eight samples of 0634a, and it was no picnic. Emily stayed within the ship to prevent it from going off course. When the duo returned from their chase, they decided to contact the boss and inform them of their success. However, when their transmission was sent, they would receive no reply. The team had no idea that while they were in their period of rest, the world plummeted and degraded due to its loss of time perception. They decided that with or without informing the boss, they still needed to return back to Earth. Later that day, they had their last meal before preparing the ship’s auto-pilot, and heading off to their pods for their long trek back to Earth, unaware of the horror that awaited them.

And that was "Adrift In Time" by an anonymous author. Let's hope we see more from them!
