Peppermint Kisses (Amelie x Gerard)

Amélie came to realize that although Gibraltar was hectic on normal days, the holiday season was even worse. She didn’t spend too much time around base, being so focused on her music and her own side of the family, but this was one of those years when agents couldn’t afford to leave, her husband included. Compared to her relatively quiet life, the activity around the base was surprisingly enjoyable.

“And that’s the story of how I robbed a bank and got a pet dog at the same time. Not sure where ol’ Bessy went, though.”

“He made half that story up.”

She turns her attention back to the two young men and flashes a polite smile. Not that she minds their company; their chatter can be amusing and fills the awkward silence that comes naturally from not knowing someone too well. Still, everything’s been a little hectic the last few days, and she feels she could use a break.

Thankfully, she feels a weight on the couch beside her and an arm around her shoulders. Amélie turns and comes face to face with Gérard, who’s grinning at her with a candy cane wedged between his teeth.

“Stop that!” She exclaims, reaching to snatch the candy cane from him. What she’d do with it once she got it, she didn’t know, but it was more about the principal of the thing. “That’s the fifth one! I spent all day setting up those decorations for you--”

“My love,” Gerard mumbles around his mouthful and leans away with a wicked smirk, “they’re just so good. Almost as sweet as you.”

She scoffs and turns bright red at that. One glance to the side told her that Genji and McCree had cleared out long ago. Smart kids. “Maybe that would actually sound smooth if you didn’t talk with your mouth full.”

Still with that insatiable grin on his face, he takes the candy cane out of his mouth and holds it as far away from her as he can get it. She pouts but takes the bait, strains forward across his lap and tries to reach it, and it’s only when she feels his arm snake around her waist that she realizes it’s exactly what he’d wanted.

She only has time to giggle and say his name with exasperation before he’s pulled her into his lap and kissed her, filled with peppermint sweetness.
