Chaplin: The Idle Class and The Kid
Fri, Feb 21, 2014, 8 pm
2014 marks the centennial of the
appearance of the Little Tramp on
the silver screen. To celebrate, the
BSO presents a pairing of classic
1920’s Charlie Chaplin films. One
of his final short subjects, The Idle
Class, features Chaplin in a dual role.
And Charlie adopts the five-year-old
Jackie Coogan in his first feature, The
Kid. A film with a smile. And perhaps
a tear. Marin Alsop conducts the
music from Chaplin’s films, written
nearly 50 years after their release.
