Travel overland to Chile and Torres del Paine National Park , which is centered around granite peaks that soar above the Patagonian steppe .

DAY 13 • Explore Torres del Paine National Park Explore the rugged majesty of Torres del Paine during a pair of scenic hikes , keeping an eye out for some of Patagonia ’ s most majestic wildlife .

DAY 14 • Torres del Paine • Puerto Natales • Embark ship
Continue exploring Torres del Paine with a morning hike . Then set off toward Puerto Natales , where we ’ ll board the M / V Skorpios III , our home for the next four nights , and begin our cruise through the Chilean fjords .

DAY 15 • Cruise glaciers Cruise through the Guillard fjord , a narrow stretch of water surrounded on all sides by glaciers whose origins trace back to volcanoes in the Southern Ice Field . This afternoon , our ship sails on to Sarratea Bay , which we ’ ll explore via Zodiac .

DAY 16 • Cruise glaciers Today we cruise through three smaller fjords . Beginning with the Amalia Glacier , we cruise onward towards the El Brujo Glacier . Weather permitting , we ’ ll go ashore for panoramic views . Finally , we navigate Calvo Fjord , a glacier-filled alley of bobbing ice . We ’ ll board an icebreaker boat , the Capitán Constantino , to get closer .

DAY 17 • Cruise glaciers • Captain ’ s Farewell Dinner
Discover the Las Montañas Fjord today , including the Alsina , Bernal , and Angostura White glaciers . We ’ ll board small expedition boats to get closer and go ashore . This evening , we ’ ll toast to our discoveries at a Captain ’ s Farewell Dinner .

DAY 18 • Disembark ship • Santiago Disembark this morning and drive to the airport for our afternoon flight to Santiago .

DAY 19 • Explore Santiago • Allende & Pinochet conversation
We ’ ll converse with a local expert about the Allende years and Pinochet coup that caused political turmoil in Chile from 1969 to 1973 . Then explore Santiago on foot and by subway , including a visit to La Moneda Palace , the seat of Chile ’ s government . We ’ ll then take a gondola to the top of San Cristobal Hill . Enjoy a Farewell Dinner at a local restaurant .

DAY 20 • Santiago • Winery visit • Return to U . S . Enjoy a tour and tasting at a family-owned winery in the Maipo Valley , Chile ’ s most prestigious wineproducing region . Later , transfer to the airport for your flight to the U . S ., or begin your post-trip extension to Santiago & Easter Island ’ s Sacred Sites .
