DAY 1 • Depart U . S . Depart on your overnight flight to Rio de Janeiro , Brazil .
DAY 2 • Arrive in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil Arrive in Rio and transfer to your hotel . Later , join your Trip Experience Leader and fellow travelers , including those joining us from the Brazil ’ s Atlantic Coast pre-trip extension .

DAY 3 • Explore Rio Visit Corcovado Mountain , site of the 124-foot-high Christ the Redeemer statue , which offers commanding city views . Then explore downtown Rio and see the colorful Selarón Stairs .

DAY 4 • Rio • Carnival experience Continue discovering Rio with a Carnival experience tour , which offers a behind-the-scenes look at the important South American cultural celebration .

DAY 5 • Rio • Iguassu Falls Fly to Iguassu Falls , located on the Argentina / Brazil border . The falls at Iguassu are twice as high as Niagara Falls and 65 feet wider . Upon arrival , we ’ ll cross the border to survey the falls from the Brazilian side .

DAY 6 • Iguassu Falls , Argentina • Optional Great Adventure tour
Embark on a walking tour on the Argentinean side of the falls — where the majority of the cascades are found . Explore independently , or join our optional Great Adventure tour , which offers the opportunity to witness the falls and surrounding jungle on foot and by motorboat .

DAY 7 • Iguassu • Buenos Aires • Home- Hosted Dinner
After breakfast , we fly to Buenos Aires . Following an afternoon of independent discovery , enjoy a Home- Hosted Dinner with a local family .

DAY 8 • Explore Buenos Aires Explore Buenos Aires , including the Plaza del Mayo , Avenido 9 de Julio , the colorful La Boca artists ’ district , and the resting place of Eva Perón at Recoleta Cemetery . Our discoveries conclude with a tango lesson .

DAY 9 • Buenos Aires • El Calafate Fly to El Calafate , near the Chilean border . After transferring to our hotel , we ’ ll have an orientation walk , then the afternoon to explore at leisure .

DAY 10 • El Calafate • A Day in the Life of a Patagonian ranch
Spend A Day in the Life of a working estancia , or Patagonian sheep ranch . We ’ ll meet the owners , learn about life on the ranch , and enjoy a traditional barbecued lamb lunch .

DAY 11 • El Calafate • Perito Moreno Glacier Enjoy a full-day excursion to Los Glaciares National Park , a UNESCO World Heritage Site that comprises more than 1,700 square miles and nearly 50 large glaciers , including the spectacular Perito Moreno Glacier .
