DAY 3 • Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City today and transfer to your hotel, where you’ ll meet your fellow travelers, including those who are concluding their Vietnam’ s Scenic North: Hanoi, Ninh Binh & Halong Bay Cruise pre-trip extension. Join your Trip Experience Leader for an orientation walk before dinner.

DAY 4 • Ho Chi Minh City • Embark ship Tour Ho Chi Minh City( formerly Saigon) today on a panoramic driving tour. See the city highlights including the former presidential palace and U. S. embassy, as well as the Catholic cathedral of Notre Dame and Ba Thien Hau Temple, located in the city’ s Chinatown neighborhood. Later, board your privately chartered ship, which will be your home for the next eight nights.

DAY 5 • Cu Chi Tunnels • Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History
Drive to the village of Cu Chi for a tour of a section of the eponymous tunnels where Viet Cong soldiers conducted war, and Vietnamese civilians took shelter during the conflict with the United States in the 1960s and 70s. Later, return to Ho Chi Minh City to delve deeper into the region’ s long past during a tour of the city’ s history museum, telling the story of the area’ s inhabitants from the prehistoric era to today.

DAY 6 • Thoi Son Island • Cai Be • Vinh Long Begin your Mekong River Cruise today, including a cruise through the Cho Gao Canal, a sampan ride to lush Thoi Son Island, and a visit to the floating markets of Cai Be, where we’ ll learn about local history at Ba Duc House. We’ ll also visit the city of Vinh Long for a firsthand look at local craft and agricultural traditions.

DAY 7 • Sa Dec • Cruise to Chau Doc Explore Sa Dec this morning, known as the“ Flower Capital” for its colorful blooms that blossom yearround. We’ ll visit the Huynh Thuy Le Ancient House, known for its association with Marguerite Duras’ novel The Lover, and browse the local market to absorb some local color before continuing our cruise up the Mekong towards Cambodia.

DAY 8 • Chau Doc • Cruise to Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Conclude your Vietnam discoveries with a visit to the border town of Chau Doc, where we’ ll learn about local spiritual traditions during included tours of Ba Chua Xu Temple and Tay An Pagoda. Then, cross the border into Cambodia as we cruise to the capital city of Phnom Penh, where we’ ll dock tonight.
