DAY 10 • A Day in the Life of San Francisco de Dos Ríos • School visit • Home-Hosted Lunch
Today, we’ ll drive out to San Francisco de Dos Ríos to spend A Day in the Life of a Costa Rican village. We’ ll also visit a local elementary school, supported in part by Grand Circle Foundation, followed by a Home-Hosted Lunch with a local family.

DAY 11 • Travel to La Fortuna • Arenal Volcano National Park • Optional Forest Canopy Ride
Visit Arenal Volcano National Park, which includes a nature walk along the Peninsula Trail and the shores of Lake Arenal. Keep an eye out for wildlife: The park is home to more than 500 species of birds, including toucans as well as monkeys and coati. This afternoon, you might choose to go on an optional zip-lining excursion. Tonight, enjoy a Farewell Dinner.

DAY 12 • La Fortuna • Alajuela • Overland to Villa Blanca Cloud Forest
Transfer to the district of Alajuela to discover the Villa Blanca Cloud Forest Reserve. This lush, private reserve encompasses more than 2,500 acres of pristine, mist-draped landscapes, a haven for biodiversity and conservation research. Our expert guide will help us identify the region’ s extraordinary flora and fauna— from bromeliads and tree ferns to howler monkeys and poison dart frogs.
