DAY 1 • Depart U. S. Depart on your overnight flight to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
DAY 2 • Arrive in Buenos Aires, Argentina Arrive in Buenos Aires and transfer to your hotel. Later, join your Trip Experience Leader and fellow travelers, including those joining us from the Buenos Aires & Uruguay’ s Colonial Past pre-trip extension.

DAY 3 • Buenos Aires • Controversial Topic: The“ Disappeared” of Argentina’ s Dirty War
Enjoy a half-day tour of Buenos Aires, including visits to the vast Plaza de Mayo and the colorful La Boca district, where we’ ll learn the steps of the iconic tango during a lesson. Plus join a local to learn about the Controversial Topic of the Argentinean dictatorship of 1976 to 1983, a period where tens of thousands of dissidents were“ disappeared” by the government, without a trace left to find by their loved ones.

DAY 4 • Fly to Salta • Overland to Cafayate Fly to Salta, then transfer overland to Cafayate, in the heart of Argentina’ s wine country.

DAY 5 • La Yesera & Los Colorados • Winery Visit Today we’ ll enjoy a closer look at Northern Argentina’ s rugged natural beauty as we hike in La Yesera and Los Colorados, enjoying views of stark desert landscapes and rugged red rock walls. Later, we’ ll visit a local vineyard, where we’ ll have the opportunity to sample torrontés, a white wine native to the region.

DAY 6 • Overland to Cachi Ride through a rugged red-rock land scape as we transfer to the laidback desert town of Cachi, stopping at the village of Molinos on the way for lunch. Explore Cachi’ s colonial main square and adobe houselined lanes on a walking tour before checking in to your hotel.

DAY 7 • Overland to Salta • Los Cardones National Park • Cuesta del Obispo
After breakfast, we’ ll drive to the cactus-filled Los Cardones National Park, where we’ ll take a short hike to observe the stark landscape. Then drive along the cliffside Cuesta del Obispo pass as we make our way to the city of Salta, where we’ ll check in to our hotel.

DAY 8 • Salta This morning, we’ ll explore Salta, a sprawling metropolis in the heart of the desert. We’ ll visit the bustling San Miguel Market, where locals from all walks
of like come to do their daily shopping. Then enjoy a free afternoon, with lunch on your own. We’ ll gather again for an included dinner tonight.

DAY 9 • Overland to Purmamarca • Tilcara archaeological site
Today we set out for Purmamarca, stopping along the way to admire the pre-Hispanic ruins at Tilcara, a picturesque town in the Quebrada de Humahuaca( Humahuaca Gorge) and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
