DAY 1 • Depart U. S. Depart for your overnight flight to Glasgow, Scotland.
DAY 2 • Arrive in Glasgow, Scotland Arrive in Glasgow and meet your Trip Experience Leader and fellow travelers, including those on our The Gaelic Island Culture of the Scottish Hebrides: Skye, Lewis & Harris pre-trip extension.

DAY 3 • Glasgow • GCF visit: Soul Food Sisters Embark on a panoramic tour of Glasgow, including a walking tour with a local guide through the West End, Glasgow Necropolis, and the Glasgow Cathedral. After lunch at Soul Food Sisters, a female-led nonprofit supported in part by Grand Circle Foundation, the rest of the afternoon is free. Later, take a walk to the historic Mackintosh at the Willow where our Trip Experience Leader will lead a Welcome Briefing. We’ ll then gather for a Welcome Dinner.

DAY 4 • Glasgow • Alloway • Home-Hosted Dinner Discover one of Scotland’ s beloved literary figures, Robert Burns, during a visit to the humble cottage where he was raised. A beloved author and poet, Burns is celebrated for works like Auld Lang Syne, the famous song sung around the world when the clock strikes midnight on New Year’ s Eve. Then, we’ ll weave through the village, along the Poet’ s Path to Auld Kirk, where his parents are buried. After, enjoy some free time in
Glasgow before meeting with a local family for a Home- Hosted Dinner.

DAY 5 • Scottish Highlands hike • Glencoe • Oban Say goodbye to Glasgow and transfer to Oban today. On our way, we’ ll stop for a scenic hike in the Scottish Highlands. After lunch, we’ ll continue to Oban, pausing at the Glencoe Visitors’ Centre en route.

DAY 6 • Oban • A Day in the Life of a Highland cattle farm
Today, visit Argyll to experience A Day in the Life of a local Highland cattle farm where we’ ll meet the breeders and learn about the native Highland cattle and the land. Then, enjoy a trail ride to the hilltops of Loch Awe, where we may get the opportunity to meet the hairy beasts, and later sit down to lunch featuring Scottish delights. The remainder of your afternoon is free to explore.

DAY 7 • Oban • Isle of Iona Today we will take a ferry to the Isle of Mull, where we will board another ferry to the Isle of Iona, soaking in the scenic white-sand beaches and rugged landscapes along the way. We’ ll enjoy lunch upon arrival to the Isle of Iona. Then, we’ ll set off on a guided tour to learn about the changing religious landscape of the island— from the arrival of Christianity in the sixth century to the Scottish Reformation period in the 16th century. Later, we return to Oban for independent discoveries.

DAY 8 • Oban • Inverness • Urquhart Castle Travel to Inverness, the capital of the Highlands. We’ ll make stops along the way at the villages of Fort Augustus, located on the shores of Loch Ness. Then, continue to Inverness, a quaint city of modest stone homes and a castle that appears to be straight from a storybook, pausing at the ruins of Urquhart Castle. You’ ll have time to explore the many towers and chambers on your own. Arrive in Inverness later this afternoon.
