Can one of you in power tell me please, Why it’ s so hard for me to be true to me? As a young woman in a world of your creation, I find that every one of my declarations is met With someone calling me out. I say I’ m strong? You say I’ m wrong. I say I’ m beautiful? You say I’ m not truthful. How can I love who I know I am If every message you send tells me I can’ t? If a young woman loves comic, she’ s a“ fake geek” If she like Pumpkin Spice and Uggs, she’ s“ basic” How can women love who they are, if you keep saying they’ re all wrong? It drives me right up the wall, Because it seems I’ m supposed to be everything, or nothing at all You, The media, create this ideal, That women are only supposed to show any zeal When it relates to men: Pleasing them, Teasing them, Leading them to be their heroic best. How? Using their bodies or their deaths. Does anyone else see the problem here? Because in my eyes it seems pretty clear. You see women as objects of male attention. And men? They have to deal with the opposite intention. You say that men have to defend and fight The weaker ones rarely see a hero’ s spotlight. How is this fair to anyone? How has this gone on for so long?
What can one voice do against the media moguls? Well, you can hear my voice, can’ t you?
