Auxiliarist Honored for Cardiac Arrest Save

Lake Mahopac, New York - On May 20th, 2014, Adrienne Davies was honored by her Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla in Lake Mahopac for an impressive rescue. Adrienne, a member of Flotilla 6-3, was awarded a "Certificate Of Appreciation" for saving a man from cardiac arrest at the New York Sports Club.
The victim was exercising at the club, when suddenly he collapsed. Ms. Davies, who was serving as a life guard at the nearby club pool, noticed the man in serious distress and immediately sprung into action. She surveyed the scene and enlisted others nearby to assist her in saving the man's life. She requested the Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and immediately began rescue breaths and chest compressions on the victim.
Despite those efforts, the victim still had no pulse. Davies then administered an authorized shock with the AED, and restored his heartbeat. She continued to monitor him until emergency medical services arrived at the scene. A week later, the man and his wife returned to the sports club to thank her with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
Bravo Zulu, Adrienne! (That's Coast Guard speak for "Well Done!").
