Hard to believe it has already been a year since I assumed my role as your Director of Auxiliary .
I am continually impressed and humbled by your unwavering commitment to our Service and communities … thank you ! It has been an absolute pleasure getting to meet many members of our team while attending meetings , changes of watches , the Staff Officer College , and our first District-wide training event in over four years . Your motivation and passion are awesome and will serve us well throughout the 2024 boating season and beyond . I have no doubt the First District Southern Region will continue its sterling reputation as the “ First to Lead ” across the entire Auxiliary component . Safety is our guide .
We will ensure the safety of self , our teammates , and the public we serve through every evolution . We will educate the public on boating safety and train our crews to execute their missions . We will promote transparent communication within our organizational structure and employ a deliberate community relations program .
Collaboration within our own region will be the cornerstone for success while fostering strong partnerships with our neighboring Auxiliary regions will build capacity for joint training and response activities .
In this uncertain time of active-duty workforce reductions and necessary mission re-alignment initiatives , it is you ; the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary , that our most senior leaders are leaning on to help navigate this uncharted course .
I pledge the full support of the Director ’ s Office to advocate for your operational capabilities and diligently manage your support network . I look forward to connecting with you throughout the summer .
