“Change is difficult,” says
Norman Steele, Team Leader,
Environmental Services in the
Atlantic Region, adding that
changing two organizations
simultaneously is even more
so. But, with the project
delivery process at CFB Halifax
experiencing challenges, DCC
and DND chose to sit down
together. They formed the Joint
Action Committee, or JAC,
which Norman nominated
for the Innovation Award.
Comprised of representatives
MAKING IT RIGHT,
TOGETHER
from both organizations, the
JAC created common ground to
collaborate on identifying issues,
solutions and new processes
that would promote efficiencies
on both sides. The result is a
respect and appreciation for
each other, leading to increased
DCC involvement at initial
project stages and complete
tender packages from DND –
reducing timelines, tendering
amendments, change orders and,
ultimately, costs.
