Otis Ridge has long been the ski spot for both beginners and families , but adventure seekers will find thrills there , too . It is home to the oldest operating ski camp in the country , having taught boys and girls ages 8-15 for more than 50 years . The camp also has a snowboarding program . Otis Ridge features six downhill trails , two lifts , and a new 90-foot conveyor beginner lift for the learning area . Improvements have been made to their snowmaking system . With 100 % snowmaking capabilities , and the longest quad lift in the Berkshires , Ski Butternut offers 22 trails , 1000-foot vertical , two terrain parks , two restaurants , and an eight-lane tubing center . Both ski and snowboard lessons are available with programs available for kids ages 4-12 . Snowmaking upgrades are underway , aimed to increase Butternut ’ s snowmaking capacity and to allow for more runtime and increased productivity .
