The 46th Josh Billings RunAground Triathlon Great Barrington , Stockbridge , Lenox 8:30 a . m . start time The Josh Billings RunAground has been held in southern Berkshire County since 1976 . The Sunday , September 18 , race consists of a 27- mile bike ride , five-mile canoe / kayak / SUP sprint , and a six-mile run . The race is named after Josh Billings , whose saying “ To finish is to win ” has become the motto of the race . Registration fees range from $ 75 –$ 120 . joshbillings . com

Fall Bird Walks , Mass Audubon The Mount , Lenox 8 – 10 a . m . Explore author Edith Wharton ’ s estate , including the woods , wetlands , and meadows that may have inspired her writing . Learn skills to bird by sight and sound and tips for exploring different habitats in search of swallows , woodpeckers , thrushes , and warblers . Longer and shorter distance options are available each week . Led by Zach Adams , Dale Abrams , and other Mass Audubon naturalists , the program connects those who love sharing their passion for birds and all of nature with others . Housatonic Flats , Hoffman Bird Club Meet at 439 Stockbridge Rd . Parking Lot , Great Barrington 7:30 am . Take a walk along a flat , mowed , 3 / 4-mile loop trail along the Housatonic River through floodplain forest and weedy meadow . Fairly narrow trail and possible tree roots in the portions through the forest . The Hoffman Bird Club hosts various field trips and meetings throughout the year and across Berkshire County .
