Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Fort Worth and Baylor Scott & White – Fort Worth leaders announced in 2018 that certification was received for the Carter Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). Carter Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation was recognized for its commitment to improving the quality of life by enhancing standards of care. AACVPR Program Certification is the only peer- review accreditation process designed to review individual programs for adherence to standards and guidelines developed and published by AACVPR and other professional societies. AACVPR-certified programs are recognized as leaders in the field of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation because they offer the most advanced practices available. AACVPR program certification is valid for three years. Analyzing the risk factors associated with this patient population, it became apparent to the leaders of the program that patients would benefit from an ongoing lifestyle education program. Adopting the Leap for Life ® lifestyle education and awareness program, sessions are held twice a month at the Carter Center. Patients, whether graduated from rehabilitation or not, are encouraged to attend the sessions. The sessions are also open to the public. Topics vary from month to month, but all are focused on wellness, disease prevention and risk factor reduction. For more information, visit BaylorHeartHospital.com/LeapforLife or call 1.844.BSW.DOCS.
