VQI : Important for National Quality Benchmarking – 3 out of 3 Stars
The Vascular Quality Initiative ( VQI ) is a collaborative effort of regional quality groups designed to improve the quality , safety , effectiveness and cost of vascular healthcare . The VQI collects perioperative and one-year follow-up data to generate real-time benchmarked reports to assess quality of care and determine best practices in vascular surgery . The VQI is governed by the Society for Vascular Surgeons Patient Safety Organization ( SVS PSO ), which provides oversight of data sharing arrangements , key outcome and quality measure analyses , and dissemination of information to participating providers .
Published in 2018 , through participation of the VQI Registry , the hospital received the 2017 VQI Participation Award in the form of the highest “ star rating ” from the VQI : 3 Stars . There were 359 centers eligible for 2017 VQI Participation Awards . Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas was one of only 42 sites that received the highest rating of 3 Stars . VQI centers are eligible to receive up to three stars depending on the extent of their participation in three categories :

• Rate of long-term follow-up reporting

• Physician attendance at regional quality group meetings

• Number of vascular procedure registries subscribed which provides more opportunities for learning and improvement
