We follow and promote these learning outcomes through the ranges of experiences and opportunities which we present to the children . You will see us developing relationships and listening to the children , allowing their opinions and suggestions to shape what we offer . The very nature of My Time , Our Place is to embrace these core ideas and enrich the time your children spend with us .
The Curriculum Plan and weekly program are visible in the Centre for children to contribute to and for parents to see what is happening in the Centre each week .
Technology and Personal Items The Centre does not permit children to bring in items such as ipads , ipods , iphones etc . The philosophy of the Centre is to encourage children to play and interact , build relationships and develop new skills . We cannot take responsibility for these items .
We have computers which are available for children to carry out their homework and use in the vacation programs . However , these are limited to ten minutes only and are restricted access . The Centre will sometimes show a movie and on rainy or hot days there are opportunities presented for children to collaboratively play on selected consoles . Again , these are on time restrictions .
The Centre provides an extensive range of games , toys and sports equipment for the children to play with . Personal toys are not encouraged and no responsibility can be taken for them . If these are brought in and are damaged , lost or broken , the Centre will not be held accountable . This can be distressing for children so we request that they are kept at home .
Lost Property Parents / Carers are asked to label all items of clothing with the child ’ s name . There is a lost property box in the foyer of the Centre . We display lost property frequently and try to match items with children . If items are not claimed within a 3 month period , we take them to a charity outlet . School uniforms will be placed in the Lost Property box in Priestley Hall .
Little Explorers – program for 3 year olds ( Commencing in 2018 )
Our Little Explorers program Is designed to provide a stepping stone that bridges the pre-school years and into the Guildford Grammar School Kindergarten and Early Years Program . Little Explorers is provided by the Out of School Hours Care team and is in alignment with the Early Years Framework . Delivered by a fully qualified Early Years teacher , the program embraces the philosophy based on ‘ Being , Belonging , Becoming ’. The program continues the play based , Reggio inspired , enquiry model already found in Out of School Care . Should any Little Explorers wish to access Before School or After School care , they will transition seamlessly into ‘ My Time - Our Place ’, the school age framework . The Little Explorers have their own identity and uniform and have access to all of the Out Of School Care facilities .
