Just as we have to take drivers education or are required to obtain certain permits and certifications for in life (i.e., home health care, child care, bus drivers, social workers, etc.. ); these are just a few professions that require you to hold state certifications due to the level of responsibility/and liability that you're liable for on a daily bases. One has to be declared skilled and competent, to receive these certifications. So, I think that's what should be required of all races with anyone seeking to get married; in hopes that with this particular safe guard in place, it will allow some people to stop, and think before entering into the institution of marriage lightly. When everyone is required to undergo a 8-10 week marital counseling & workshop program ,with a Certified Professional Marriage Counselor or church clergy (i.e., pastor, bishop, reverend), who'll need to sign-off on a certificate of completion before people are allowed to apply for their marriage license, I think, would be a step in the right direction for us. But I do not believe that a National Black Marriage Day is the answer for us.
