WHAT OUR COMMUNITY SAID
Council conducted Connected Futures forums across the region in conjunction with development of the Corporate Plan 2018-23 to discuss areas of importance for each of our communities . This information has been used to develop region-wide strategies , local plans , and Council ’ s Corporate and Operational Plans and Budgets .
CONNECTED FUTURES FORUMS
Supply water to our towns
• Water quality and supply for Amby , Yuleba , Teelba Community Centre and Surat
• Water pressure in other towns , especially in Roma and Wallumbilla .
Dispose of wastewater ( sewerage )
• Sewer systems at Wallumbilla and Yuleba
• Continuing expansion of Roma sewer system ( especially to the airport )
• Establishing new dump points at Amby , Wallumbilla and Yuleba
• Better signage for existing dump points across the region .
Manage our region ’ s urban and rural roads
• Footpaths and public facility access for people of all mobilities
• Parking for larger recreation vehicles in all towns
• More kerbing and channeling in all urban areas
• Reducing speed limits in Muckadilla , Yuleba , Jackson , Surat and Wallumbilla ( Council to advocate to State Government )
• Heavy vehicle routes through towns , especially in Wallumbilla and Roma
• Rural roads are significant for industries including timber , agriculture and tourism ( e . g . Mt Moffatt )
• Rail crossings at Yuleba and Jackson ( Council and State Government )
• Publicising road maintenance schedules for rural roads .
Manage waste generated and delivered to our towns
• Appearance and operation of waste management facilities ( across region )
• Changing facilities outside of Roma to transfer stations
• Cost effective recycling at all waste management facilities
• More waste bins at parks , along paths and at events .
Provide cemeteries
• Fencing as an important feature of most cemeteries
• Access to accurate cemetery registers and mapping .
