Our House’s summer program, My Picture
Perfect Summer, where he began making new
friends and learning from new experiences.
For a single mother with a teenage son, life in the
Shelter can be difficult, so not long after entering
Our House, they moved into the Family House.
In the Family House, Cynthia and her children
share a room with a private bathroom. Cynthia
also began participating in the Family House
Moving Up education program, where she is
working on her basic education, improving her
ability to manage money and create a budget,
completing her resume, learning how to interview
successfully for a job, and learning how to be a
great tenant. She is also saving money and has
already reached over $1,000 in savings. Cynthia
has even been able to participate in cooking
classes for the Family Housing residents, where
she learns how to purchase and prepare healthy
diabetic-friendly meals for her son so he can stay
healthy. Cynthia hopes to continue working and
saving so she can buy a car. She also hopes to get
training to start a career in insurance sales.
Cynthia has flourished in her time in the Family
House and has even encouraged others to take life
seriously and work hard to make the most of it.
What is really special about Cynthia is the love
and care she has for the children of Our House.
She is always dependable in her work with the
children. She always goes above and beyond and
places the care and well-being of the children as
her first priority while in her training position.
“It has truly been a blessing for me working with
the little children because children are God’s
little blessings. All they need is love and I have
so much love in my heart that I want to share.”
