TURKEY
One day they saw a wolf coming in and out of a strait and , following him , they came out of Erghenegon . It is the day when the Turkish people spread to the four corners of the world . They also cook over seven dishes , because seven is a lucky number . There are a lot of cakes , mutton dishes , speci c traditional dishes . Red eggs are also painted , which signify hope , joy , light . People clash their eggs because there is an old saying that " Until the eggshell falls to the ground , spring will not come ." The young people take a branch that they decorate with snowdrops , embroidered handkerchiefs , spring owers , and carol from house to house to bring the Blackberry , that is , the news of spring . They are rewarded with sweets , cakes , and pennies , and these little gifts are called " neurosis ." The dead are not forgotten either . These days the graves are cleaned , owers are planted , prayers are read and alms are given to the poor . The symbols of Nevruz are the sprouted wheat , which signi es the new year , the re present in the houses of the people who light candles in the four corners of the rooms . Young people also make res around which they dance and recite verses about this holiday .
Camel wrestling isn ’ t very quite as prevalent across Turkey as it used to be & is now con ned mainly to the Aegean region of the nation , along the western and the west seacoast . Each January close to Ephesus , one of Turkey ’ s most well known archaeological sites , a camel wrestling event takes place . Mostly a couple of male camels , called as bulls , have the chance to battle over a lovely female camel , called as a cow . This is one of the most popular festivals in Turkey .
TURKEY / NEVROZ
The most important holiday of the Turks , from the point of view of the unity of the Turkish world , celebrated annually by the Dobrogean Turks , is Nevruzul . This is also their oldest celebration , dating back over 5,000 years . The word " Nevruz ", translated from Persian , required " new day ", from " Nev ", meaning new , and " ruz ", meaning day . It is therefore a new day in which nature is revived , and people enjoy the beginning of a new year as well as the primary coming . In Romania , the over 66 thousand Turks and Tartars celebrate spring on March 21 , although not for everyone Nevruz starts in the rst minute of the morning that precedes the sign of Aries . In some peoples it lasts between 3-7 days , in others it can last up to 14 days . From China to Asia and Europe , every Turkish people has their own legends about the Neurosis . One of the legends says that thousands of years ago the Turks were isolated in Erghenegon on some mountains they could not cross , due to natural cataclysms . However , they continued their lives , extracted coal deposits , raised animals .
