Ian Ackers, ’21
Undergraduate institution: Ohio State University
Hometown: Columbus, OH
D.O./Ph.D. student
“Between my first and second year of medical school, I received the competitive
Research and Scholarly Advancement Fellowship, which provided a stipend and 10
weeks of protected research. The RSAF fostered my development as a researcher and
helped to narrow down the scientific premise for my Ph.D. thesis research. I was also
fortunate enough to work on multiple other research projects unrelated to my thesis,
which illustrates the collaborative environment at the Heritage College.”
GET INVOLVED WHEREVER YOU STAND
Attending the Heritage College is one thing. But if you want
to shape the college and connect with peers and mentors who
share your interest in particular areas of medicine, you have
access to state and national organizations to complement your
educational experiences through the student organizations
found across all three Heritage College locations.
Through the Student Government Association, you can
provide fellow students with a strong voice in matters
affecting their medical education and help engage the
college with the greater Ohio University and osteopathic
medical communities.
