Research and Leadership
REACH NEW HEIGHTS
Here, your required course of study is
only the beginning. Between predoctoral
fellowships and summer programs,
national medical associations and student
government—or even pursuing a dual
degree—you’ll find many ways to take
your education even further.
FULFILL A LEGACY
The Heritage College is a host site for the
prestigious Albert Schweitzer Fellowship.
Fellows develop service leadership skills
by following in Dr. Schweitzer’s footsteps
to improve the health and well-being of
vulnerable populations.
MAKE AND SHARE DISCOVERIES
The Heritage College encourages students to pursue
research activities in several ways:
• O
ne-on-one research projects with faculty
• R
esearch and Scholarly Advancement Fellowship Program
• T argeted support during each step in the research
process, from concept development and research
design to project implementation and dissemination
of your findings
MULTIPLY YOUR CAPACITY TO HEAL
As a member of the Ohio University community,
you can expand your medical education with dual-
degree offerings designed to increase your personal
and professional development. Distinguish yourself
as a physician scientist, policy leader, or health care
administrator, or supplement your medical education
with a business background.
AMPLIFY YOUR PASSION FOR CARE
In any given year, at least 10 medical students are selected
for an extra year of training as predoctoral associates
in osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) or family
medicine. This associateship further develops skills and
has prepared past participants for careers in academic
medicine in family medicine or OMM.
