Do you get together often with other UNESCO centres or with the UN ?
This past October we celebrated the 75th anniversary of the UN in Madrid . It was meant to take place in 2020 because 2020 was the actual anniversary , but no one in any part of the world could celebrate it that year . Daniella was invited , but unfortunately , she was unable to attend . She wanted to go because it was an international event . I will tell you a little anecdote , once I had arrived , I met up with some people from Andorra , and they noticed that the organisers had made a mistake and instead of putting my title down as President of the UNESCO Centre of the Campo de Gibraltar , they wrote President of the UNESCO Centre of Gibraltar . The attendees from Andorra wanted to know more about Gibraltar and wanted to chat , but of course , I told them that although I know it well , I am actually from the area , and they had omitted ‘ Campo de ’. But there were also people there from France , from England and we were chatting with all of them . We have a lot of these types of gatherings . Immediately afterwards we went to the Conference in Paris and there we contacted a lot of people from different countries . On top of that , we also have Elena , who is our UNESCO international relations , she is also from Malaga . I would very much like to bring her to Gibraltar so that you can interview her , and I would also very much like Daniella to meet her . Elena is the one that What type of activities have you done and plan to do in the future ?
We have a summary in our 2020 agenda of all the activities we have done over many years . For example , we did a workshop on how to overcome the psychological effects of COVID , I also do a lot of conferences about depression and anxiety . Also , for example , a lot of conferences and activities in Ibero-America . We do a lot of press , radio , and we are involved in the arts and in literature . We meet with mayors practically daily , and we also meet up with people in Gibraltar like Dr John Cortes ( Minister for Environment , Sustainability , Climate Change and Education ) and Michael Netto ( President of the Cross-Frontier Group ). We have great lines of communication with them and often discuss the issue of trans-border relations . During the pandemic , we did a lot of courses and workshops over Zoom or through quier tipo de entrevista como esta , es un medio para difundir . Pues esos cuatro objetivos ; educación , ciencia , cultura y comunicación , es por lo que trabajamos y hablar de eso y también de la agenda 2030 de la ONU . ¿ Os juntáis con regularidad con otros centros de la UNESCO y de la ONU ?
Precisamente en octubre celebramos el 75 aniversario de la ONU en Madrid . Lo teníamos previsto para el año 2020 porque el año 20 fue el aniversario , pero nadie lo pudo celebrar en ninguna parte del planeta . Daniella estaba invitada , pero desafortunadamente no pudo atender . Ella quería haber venido porque era un evento internacional . Te cuento una anécdota , en cuanto llegué , me encontré con gente de Andorra y nos fijamos que los organizadores se habían equivocado y en vez de poner ‘ presidente del Centro UNESCO Campo de Gibraltar ’ pusieron ‘ presidente del Centro UNESCO de Gibraltar ’. Los de Andorra tenían muchas ganas de conocer a Gibraltar y querían charlar , pero claro les dije que lo conozco muy bien , pero yo soy de la zona no de Gibraltar y que aquí falta « Campo de ». Pero también ahí estaban gente de Francia , estaban gente de Inglaterra y estuvimos charlando con ellos . Hacemos muchos encuentros de este tipo . Inmediatamente después fuimos a la Asamblea de París y allí contactas con muchísima gente de todos los países . Además , tenemos aquí con nosotros a Elena , que es nuestras relaciones internacionales para UNESCO y además ella es de Málaga , y me gustaría mucho traerla a Gibraltar para conoceros y que la hicierais una entrevista y también me gustaría mucho que Daniella la conozca . Ella , Elena , es la que se mueve por todos los países y la ventaja es que ella habla muy bien el inglés y el francés . ¿ Qué tipo de actividades habéis hecho o vais a hacer en el futuro ?
Nosotros tenemos un resumen de muchos años con un montón de actividades en nuestra agenda del año 2020 , actividades por ejemplo como un taller que se hizo para superar psicológicamente el COVID , y también doy muchas conferencias sobre la depresión y la ansiedad . También por ejemplo conferencias y actividades en Iberoamérica . Hacemos mucha prensa , radio , nos metemos en el arte y literatura también . Estamos en muy buena comunicación con alcaldes e instituciones del Campo de Gibraltar y con personas destacadas de Gibraltar , como su alcalde ,
