Although it is not a newspaper that is solely focused on the environment , it still draws attention to the malformed anatomy of a capitalism that , in its quest for self-destruction , has no qualms about wiping off the entire planet and its biodiversity . Environmental issues are just one more example of this " monumental work ," as Judith Butler has described it , which spans every aspect of what we mistakenly refer to as civilization . She blends many genres — autofiction , poetry , essay , or philosophy — in a book that demonstrates the precipice over which the tenets , practices , and pillars of our way of life collapse . But it also emits a dim but indescribable light for a brand-new existence . There is no doubt that this is the only way to safeguard a planet .

Or as can be read in the subtitle of this well-intentioned book : " Homo sapiens in the web of life ( elements for an ecologist and animalist ethics in the bosom of a New Culture of the Gaian Earth ).
