A note from the editor Vanessa Byrne / Managing Director

The biggest and warmest welcome to our April 2022 edition .
Blossom by blossom the spring begins and this means it ’ s time to start our preparations for our yearly Good Friday Cycle .
This year Good Friday falls on the 15th of April and along with enjoying an awesome cycle around Gibraltar , the event will also showcase the proposals we are working on . Proposals that , if accepted , will bring an increase in events , races , safety initiatives , and stalls to help people learn basic cycling needs .
These promotional events and educational programs are essential if we will ever see a people friendly city again . We have all suffered the tireless queues these past few weeks and think it is time for a change , a time to upgrade our metropolis into a gorgeous haven of clean air and natural walk paths .
With this in mind , we are proud to showcase in this month ’ s edition ; Motricity . Following our agreement last month , we thought to share with you their most extensive portfolio of experience and services available . This team will be able to help us achieve our very much desired city , healthy and practical , putting an end to our long queues and frustrations .
Found on page 30 “ A city that works , is a city you want to live in .” explains the very fundamentals required to adapt a city suffocated with vehicles to areas of relief , natural space , and child friendly environments . We are not alone in all these changes , as explained on the article itself many cities and countries have been adapting to new ways of transport to meet requirements and help us tackle the climate crisis . Unity is strength and we all need to help in any way possible . From the smallest tweak to overcoming the largest changes – all will make a difference to our future generations .
In our April edition we have the upmost privilege to share with you an exclusive article from our very own Juanlu Gonzalez . Many know the story of Guzmán el Bueno , a legendary character in Spanish history who held out against the Moors despite extreme odds and preferred to give up his own son than surrender . Juanlu has been researching this legend and uncovered that despite Spanish history stating Guzman as a person born in Leon and of Spanish descent that the truth is that he was born in Morocco . This most interesting read can be found on page 84 . A real eye opener .
As always , I would like to express my upmost gratitude to all who read , support , share , contribute to our monthly magazine . It is indeed a privilege to share our findings , successes , and adventures with you all .
Happy Easter to you all ! I hope you are surrounded by sunshine , flowers , chocolate , and family .
Peace and Love .
