On this subject we have also published our own article written by the lovely Sarah Birch on the massive worldwide debate on the merit of wearing cycling helmets . The debate is indeed very controversial . Contrary to what I believed , it seems after some research , safety by numbers tends to be more effective than helmet wearing . To quote from the article … “ Cycling in itself is not unsafe . It is healthy , cheap and environmentally friendly and should be treated as an everyday way to get around . Increasing safety for cyclists should focus on improving infrastructure , signage and education . These actions will encourage more people to cycle which will , in turn , make our roads safer still .” Check it out on page 43 .

En contra de lo que yo creía , parece que , tras algunas investigaciones , la seguridad es más eficaz si se va en grupos de ciclistas que el uso del casco . Citando el artículo : « El ciclismo en sí mismo no es inseguro . Es sano , barato y respetuoso con el medio ambiente , y debería tratarse como una forma cotidiana de desplazarse . El aumento de la seguridad de los ciclistas debe centrarse en la mejora de las infraestructuras , la señalización y la educación .
