Every 21st fo June is celebrated the New Years’ Eve in the Aymara and Incas
communities; a date that hundreds and thousands of people come to the temple
Kalasasaya to witness the sunlights illuminating the impressive Ponce Monolith at the
dawn.
Legends in Tiahuanaco are closely linked to Lake
Titicaca, although in this area what is surprising is
that the sculptures represent gigantic beings with
large heads.
Inside of the Museum we can see a giant statue
that is absolutely forbidden to photograph.
Actually, Tiahuanaco is not stone ruins of a city. It
is a temple complex where the Viracocha God and
the Puerta del Sol is the representation of what
was their culture. Every year the 21st of June,
hundreds and thousands of people from the
Aymara and Inca communities congregate in this
temple to celebrate the new year of their culture.
That day sunlights penetrate through the door of
the temple and illuminate the impressive
Kalasasaya Ponce Monolith. That dawn every
believer is in Tiwanaku, in s oul and body.
