Titicaca’s lake
Titicaca Lake is considered sacred by the Incas and Aymara cultures with and extensions of
approximately 8,500 km2 divided between Peru and Bolivia. It is a lake like Machu Pichu that it has
an air of mysticism because of the legends that have been written about it.
Puno is the city in Peru located on the banks of
the lake and in Bolivia is Copacabana. From a
small pier on the waterfront, you can embark
for touring the Titicaca Lake to reach the Temple
del Sol and la Luna.
If something has the lake are legends, many and
varied; one legend talks about the arrival of the
Spanish in the sixteenth century made the
indigenous, in despair, hid their treasures at the
bottom of the lake, and there are also rumors
that there are some sunken cities in ruins.
The truth is that around Koa Island, north of the
Isla del Sol, it has been found some items that,
according to some archaeo logists, could show
the probability of having a city under water. But
the evidence is very scarce to assure it.
