RCOT BOARD : RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

The Royal College of Occupational Therapists is seeking to recruit a new member who is engaged and wants to contribute to their profession and make a difference through membership of the RCOT Board : Research and Development . There is one vacant seat available .
• The Board normally meet three times a year in London or virtually , and all reasonable travel expenses for Board related activities are reimbursed by RCOT . Applicants with disabilities are also supported .
• Board membership provides an opportunity to further develop your strategic leadership skills and to promote and support the development of the profession .
• The RCOT Board : Research and Development supports the delivery of the Education and Research Core Business Plan and RCOT ’ s Annual Work Plan in related areas , and each business year contributes to two to three specific agreed areas of work from these .
• The term of office is normally three years . However , as this vacancy has arisen mid-year , the successful candidate will join the Board immediately for the remainder of this board year , with their normal three-year term commencing after the AGM in September 2021 .
As a member of the RCOT Board : Research and Development , your strategic role will include :
• supporting the delivery of the RCOT Research and Development Strategy ;
• encouraging the identification , development , and uptake of research career pathways by occupational therapists ; and
• helping to identify gaps in research evidence relevant to the profession , together with associated funding opportnities .
This is an exciting time for the Board as we continue implementing and supporting members to engage with the RCOT Research and Development Strategy 2019-2024 and the new Top 10 research priorities for occupational therapy in the UK , and the various work streams associated with them .
The RCOT Board : Research and Development welcomes applications from members with an interest in research . We are keen to encourage those working in practice , particularly social care and independent practice , to consider applying . We are especially keen encourage members from minoritised and marginalised groups to consider applying . Dr Duncan Pentland , Chair of the RCOT Board : Research and Development and / or Dr Jo Watson , RCOT Assistant Director – Education and Research , would be very pleased to have a preliminary discussion about the role with anyone who might be interested .
