My garment was a pair of trousers from Topshop, there were a number of problems with my garment which could have been adapted to improve the production and quality of the garment. Some of the problems included the stripes not be being equal on each side, the buttons were also tight when done up and one was missing. To change these I said to instead of sewn in stripes they could be printed on, this is because when sewn in the fabric stretched and not sewn in a straight line causing them to be unequal. I think printing the stripes on will be a much better method in creating an even stripe, this method would also be a much quicker method in production.

For the other problem I would only have one button on the waist fastening, this would mean there would not be any problems with distance between the buttons when sewing them in.

There were a few other problems with the garment including the fabric being quite elasticated probably a polyester jersey this could have been the leading problem for some of the faults. Choosing another fabric could be a solution for the other issues. I think the solutions I have thought of will be suitable to solve the problems highlighted with this garment, I believe printing will give a much cleaner finish and reducing the buttons makes it simpler and reduces uneven spaces. Although the solutions may cause the garment to be of lower aesthetic as stitched in pieces of fabric are much better quality compared to a printed finished, the change in the button may weaken the fastening and then it could break easier.
