March 21, 2014 Oregon School for the Deaf Weekly Newsletter Volume 2, Edition 17 Poetry Out Loud, Regionals By Gayle Robertson Please join me in congratulating Breanna Ryder on a beautiful performance Saturday. She made the audience gasp with amazement. She performed superbly. She knocked the ball clean out of the park. However, this year, the judges were looking for something a little different and Breanna did not advance to the State Competition. I like making posters. I watched RJ's stories. I watched Gayle's play. I enjoyed all [the activities]. –Christian Rodriguez I could not be prouder of Breanna, her amazing, spot-on translations and her beautiful performance. As you know, this is the first year we have not made it to State. Of all the school champions I have spent my Saturdays with at Poetry Out Loud, Breanna was perfect for this year. Why? She takes winning and losing with the same determined grace. She is a shining star. Thank you for supporting Breanna and Poetry instruction at OSD! There was a story by R.J. and it was really good. It was also very funny. – Ceilidh Ramirez Elementary Student to be Featured at Prism Gallery Anderson Interpreting Services Presents Trix Bruce By Gayle Robertson By Anderson Interpreting Service Anderson Interpreting Service is presenting a three different events presented by Trix Bruce to help us understand how to better learn ASL and how to interpret some idioms, visualize ASL Classifers and Trix Bruce will also be mentoring those who wants to improve their English/ASL translation and understanding of the Deaf culture.
