Miller Scoliosis Lab
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Miller Scoliosis Lab is a critical meeting point between clinical research and basic science. They utilize clinical specimens to achieve a goal of broadening the scientific community’ s knowledge of the complex molecular underpinnings, including the genetics, of idiopathic scoliosis. Lab research includes maintenance and analysis of over 5,000 clinical specimens collected over decades. Understanding this condition fully at the molecular level may one day lead to new detection, prevention and treatment options for the estimated 2 % of the worldwide population with idiopathic scoliosis.
Nancy Hadley-Miller, MD, Honored with POSNA Hall of Fame Induction
The lab is directed by Nancy Hadley Miller, MD, professor and pediatric orthopedic surgeon at the University of Colorado and Children’ s Hospital Colorado. As a clinician scientist, she specializes in the study of idiopathic scoliosis, having persistently researched the etiology of this complex genetic disorder over the span of her career.
As a result of her esteemed career as a physician-scientist, Dr. Hadley-Miller was recognized by her peers and inducted into the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America( POSNA) Hall of Fame. Alongside her extensive in orthopedic medicine, Dr. Hadley-Miller is also a leader in hip research.
