As part of an initiative to raise awareness of the diversity of careers available with a scientific background, the Science Department were pleased to welcome Mrs Sally Potter, Practice Manager and a qualified Veterinary Practitioner from Vets4Pets in Pelsall. Mrs Potter delivered a presentation to year 8 and year 11 students explaining the variety of careers available working with animals and the qualifications required at each level. Students were shown a variety of images depicting the everyday tasks a Vet can encounter and some of the more unusual situations Mrs Potter has encountered. Students were also shown some of the equipment that was used and some of the surgical techniques employed to help animals recover from surgery. Students really enjoyed the presentation with year 8 enthusiastically asking questions about the profession in general.
