Year 8 students participated in a ‘Spooktacular’ event that left them feeling shaken and scared. 16 Students were brave enough to stay after school to try and find the ghastly ghouls that haunt Shelfield Academy. Students faced unknown noises, the ghost of a caretaker, a fortune teller
who predicated grave danger and spooky voices in Science. The English department was a hotspot of activity.
A dark, shadowy figure appeared in one classroom; wailing and screaming at petrified students before disappearing. Students were told spine-chilling stories of the spirits that haunt Shelfield Academy.
English Teacher Mrs Halford said “the most terrifying part was when I was telling students about the Ghost of Mr Syneed; an old teacher. Just as I was telling the students, we
heard a loud bang against the 2nd floor window. We all rushed to see what the noise was and we saw a demented face. It had wild black and red hair. We were all left feeling very shaken. There was no explanation of how it appeared!”
Students were encouraged to develop literacy skills by describing their feelings and emotions. Students enjoyed the experience; they were all extremely courageous! Derek Acorah and Ghostbusters better watch out!
