February Student Interview - Lauren Kim
We were able to talk with Lauren Kim, an extremely talented and amazing junior who is actively involved in various aspects of science, ranging from science olympiad to research projects.
1.Can you briefly describe your main interest in research?
My main research interest is in sustainable science. Last year, I won an award at the state science fair through my work on wave energy and this year I am interested in optimizing the hydrogen production and air purification qualities of photocatalysis.
2.What experiences have you had in a high-level lab?
Last fall I worked with a civil/environmental engineer at UCI where I developed different turbines for increasing wave energy production. Now I am working in an atmospheric chemistry lab at UCI to work on gaseous pollutant oxidation.
