LOCATION AND FACILITIES OCSA is located in a redevelopment district in midtown Santa Ana , California . The urban campus features more than 350,000 square-feet of instructional space , spread across nine commercial and historic buildings . State-of-the-art classrooms and equipment support the specialized needs of arts and academic instruction . Performance spaces include a 500-seat theatre , a 350- seat theatre , a recital hall , an event center , and a black box studio theatre . Rehearsal space includes 14 large dance studios , three acoustically designed instrumental music and choral facilities , and 16 individual practice rooms . Additional resources for students include a carpentry workshop , two commercial instructional kitchens , two film and television sound stages , two professional recording studios , 10 visual arts studios , three computer labs , eight science labs , and more .
TUITION OCSA is a tuition-free , donation-dependent public charter school ; no student is offered or denied enrollment based on family financial capacity .
FUNDING The State of California provides approximately $ 20 million each year to fund the academic instructional program . The school must privately fundraise $ 10 million – about $ 4,750 per student – each year to fund the 16 arts conservatory programs . The school relies on the generosity of parents , individual donors , the business community , and foundations to continue offering a comprehensive arts program .
OCSA FOUNDATION Through a variety of fundraising , marketing , and community outreach activities , the Orange County School of the Arts Foundation is dedicated to supporting the school ’ s tuition-free arts programs , as well as capital improvement and endowment plans and additional needs related to the academic program . The OCSA Foundation is a registered 501 ( c )( 3 ) non-profit organization , governed by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of prominent business , education , and cultural leaders .
