“We’re never done! We are always
thinking about the next generation
of a product and what other new
technology we can develop,” he said,
adding that the team of researchers
are always listening to feedback from
the industry. “We are always asking
eyecare providers (ECPs) and patients
what they want and are always striving
to develop the latest technology that
best suits their needs.”
The major improvement with the
Transitions Signature VII lens is the
enhanced photochromic experience
using Chromea7 technology.
The exclusive dye formulation
allows the lenses to be more responsive
in more lighting conditions across all
temperatures.
This includes being more reactive
to indirect sunlight and becoming
even darker on hot days.
“Our Product Leadership Team
works closely with our researches
in Pittsburgh, who develop our
photochromic dyes,” said Matson.
“We tell them what our goal is,
whether it’s speed, darkness, or fade
back, and they develop the dye that
would work best.”
The result is a lens experience
which wearers have said is aesthetically
more pleasing than Transitions VI
and offers a higher contrast.
Wearing glasses is a very personal
experience and Transitions Signature
VII has allowed the ECP to give
wearers the opportunity to experience
the enhanced clarity and adaptability
of the lens for individual needs.
“All patients are unique and our
family of products allows eyecare
professionals to make personalized
recommendations to their patients,”
said Matson.
He said the Transitions®
XTRActive® lens was developed
because researchers understood there
was a need for a lens that got extra
dark and a demand for a slight tint
indoors.
The Transitions® Vantage™
lenses offer variable polarization and
better protection against outdoor
glare.
Transitions Signature VII offer
full clarity indoors and darken
instantly outdoors. In addition to
the new lenses being more reactive
to indirect sunlight and reflected
sunlight, the lenses are offered in
more aesthetically pleasing grey and
brown colours.
“Our newest member of the
family is our most responsive lens
ever, thanks to our new Chromea7
technology,” he said.
Matson added that the research
and development team at Transitions
Optical knows the needs of patients
vary and that the key is to create
choice. A one-size-fits-all solution
is simply not the way to improve the
wearer experience or create lifelong
clients.
“Our goal is to ensure we offer
the products that match the needs
and desires of consumers, so we will
continue to invest in research to
uncover unmet needs,” he said. “We
are constantly looking beyond clearer,
darker, fast
