The club with support from Launceston City Council had raised $480,000 to get the development into the final stage, and the Liberal party’s promised funding would see the completion of the project at Birch Avenue.

“It is fantastic to see both parties recognising the significance and growth of our sport and the need for further funding to support that growth,” said Collins.

“Getting the developments to this stage is a credit to Launceston United as a club, they have done significant fundraising in order to produce a new clubroom facility

and it is exciting to now have the support of the Liberal party on the completion of these new facilities.

“Our code of Football in Tasmania has the highest number of registered players of all team sports and with our growing profile, the need for new facilities in Tasmania is vital,” Collins said.

"While it has been pleasing to witness the success of the Victory League and the opportunity to see more A League teams visit Tasmania, we must not lose sight of the need to improve conditions for our grassroots community, particularly the juniors,” Collins added.
