A STORMS A BREWING

A STORM IS BREWING

(Left): Glenorchy Knights coach Chris Hey has come under fire already this year with a number of his new signings forcing some of his proven assets out.

Its only early in the 2014 campaign but already questions are being raised around Chris Hey’s new acquisitions forcing already established Victory League players out.

Hey’s constant perseverance in youth while a wonderful idea, and I’m sure a satisfying feeling when working well may well be his downfall.

Over the Summer Knights lost the experience of Harry Booth, Andrew Robb, William Roberts & Jade Clay. All these players were part of the Knights defensive setup with Booth also proving a useful striker rescuing the Knights a few times in 2013.

Both Booth and Roberts have been signed by Olympia while Robb has found a place back at Metro FC in League One.

Obviously the loss of Nick Hill to the club so close to the season didn’t make Hey’s job any easier and the poor form of Jai David at the back has put further pressure on the likes of Sam Johnson and Sam Kruijver in goals.

In Hey’s defence in this… mid life crisis lets call it he has unearthed some talent in Tyler Harrison and Aaron Wilson.

Both Harrison and Wilson along with former Olympia FC player Harry Woolley have been the Knights stand out performers early in the season.

If Hey is to weather the storm he will need to get some of his senior players on the same page to help lift the youth around the club.

The fascinating partnership of Jayden Hey and Shae Hickey currently just isn’t working as both players try to do to much. One has the brains, the other the legs.

Until they both acknowledge what they are capable of and their strengths we wont see the best of these two talents.
