Olympia FC 2

Last year due to some confusion around competition rules Olympia were handed the Summer Cup on a plate. This year no one can take it away from them.

They went through the competition without conceding a single goal and gave a glimpse of some exciting new talent.

The likes of Jacob Herbert, Gus Rumney & Bruno Almeida have all shown that they are ready for the real thing come the start of the 2014 Victory League season.

But it was the composure and brilliance of some of the more experienced players that shone on Monday when Olympia FC defeated Tilford Zebras 2-0 in the Summer Cup Final.

In particular the performances of Warren Wadawu, Alex Holmes, Jake Vandermey and Ben Phillips were the backbone of Olympia’s emphatic victory.

While many will say it was only two nil. Those that were there will agree that the scoreboard was not an adequate reflection of dangerous possession.

Both teams started the game testing the water with Zebras looking for quick changes of play while Olympia looked to exploit the black and white with width.

On the 29th minute mark a nice move by Wadawu down the left hand side of the Zebras box allowed Alex Bellini to give Olympia the edge after the talented winger cut the ball back to Bellini to finish from 8 yards.
