3 . eSAFETY and PARENTS 3.1 . Roles of Families in eSafety
Families face an important challenge when it comes to accompanying and helping their sons and daughters in the development of the digital skills necessary to be competent citizens in the 21st century , in which everything is constantly changing thanks to technology . The first step that adults must take is to develop digital skills that allow them to accompany and support students in this change . Currently , the introduction of technology into the lives of minors is usually natural , since in most homes there are devices with an Internet connection and they are used on a daily basis from the beginning of the minor ' s life . Before we know it , they will start watching videos or playing games with their mobile , tablet and console , so it is time for mothers and fathers to take part . The role of the family in digital education is indisputable , it should be at home where they learn most of their social and protection skills online . Although in their childhood they did not have this type of electronic devices , now they are part of the reality of adults and minors . Therefore , using technology in a critical and safe way as adults is necessary to carry out the work of teaching , accompanying and protecting them in their development in the digital environment . This part of their education must be considered like any other because it is necessary for them to learn to be autonomous and to be protected . Let us think that letting minors venture alone in the Internet environment is similar to leaving them alone in the middle of a large unknown city . Inconceivable , right ? They must be supported while they are vulnerable , and we have all the tools at our fingertips to make this process a success .
