Advocacy
One Southern Indiana has built its Advocacy agenda to ensure our current business environment is robust and the foundation for sustainable economic growth . Through advocacy , we promote positive change to achieve economic and business vitality for the region . Additionally , we strive to provide members with access to policymakers at all levels of government through forums , roundtables , and one-on-one meetings .
One Southern Indiana ’ s 2024 Call to Action for the Indiana General Assembly continues to focus on concerns relating to Talent Attraction and Retention :
- Develop new and enhanced tools to build and maintain infrastructure in support of housing development to increase available housing stock at affordable levels .
- Continue support to increase the availability and affordability of childcare and eldercare so that workers have peace of mind that loved ones are cared for while they engage in the workforce .
- Enhance incumbent worker training options and employability of people with disabilities so that employers can assist in upgrading skills and retain employees .
- Increase funding to attract and upskill workers for critical need areas such as health care , behavioral health , public safety , emergency medical , childcare , education , and manufacturing sectors to eliminate the shortage of these workers .
