The Church of St . George is
located in the heart of the city of
Piran on the Zolma . It is named
after George the Victorious . It is
the oldest cathedral on the
Slovenian coast , built in the XII
century . The church acquired its
present appearance in 1637 , when
architect Giacomo di Nodari built
a high bell tower , 99 meters high ,
near the cathedral . The tower
itself was seen in Venice , it
happened because Piran was part
of Venice . This is the main
landmark of the city and a
stunning observation deck . The
bells were cast in Lithuania .
