RESIDENZSCHLOSS,

Royal seat and cultural center of the
Saxon capital : Dresden Royal Palace tells
of almost 800 years of history . Severly
damaged durch World War II , the restored
and reconstructed palace houses the
Dresden State Art Collections today .
Dresden Royal Palace is home to the
world - famous Green Vault , the Turkish
Chamber , the Giants ' Hall accomodating
the Armory , the Coin Cabinet and the
Cabinet of Prints , Drawings and
Photographs .
The façades of the Great Castle Courtyard
show the demanding art of Sgraffito in an
exemplary way .
Overarched by a seemingly hovering roof
construction made of transparent plastic
pillows , the Small Castle Courtyard
recounts of bold Renaissance architecture .
Not far from the castle , 25 , 000 tiles of
Meissen Porcelain form a 102 - meter - long
parade of the Saxon rulers - the
Procession of Princes , the most famous
mural of Saxony . On its rear , there is the
Dresden Stable Yard . Enclosed by arched
collonades and several historic buildings ,
the courtyard provides the perfect
backdrop for a medieval Christmas fair
every December .
